ABOUT MY PROJECT
Golden Soul Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil is my California-grown olive oil company infused with sea salt of the Lost Coast and wild rosemary. The bottle design is heavily based on my grandparents Helen and Allan, biology and art teachers who live part-time in Humboldt County, which has subsequently become one of the most formative and impactful places of my life. Golden Soul pays tribute to Northern California, where the sea touches the redwoods and fog rolls over the mountains onto the sand.
Research & Sketching
MOODBOARD
My strategy for gathering images and information was to first examine the existing olive oil market and the timeless, dependable, and classy brands that line the shelves.
From these, I collected bottles that utilized serif typefaces, custom typography, gold, and classic illustration. I also collected imagery evoking Northern California’s forests, coasts, and warmth, including my own family photos.
Next, I collected images of scientific illustration, nature journaling, and various nature guides and books.
